How many lives have life-jackets on planes saved?
major_groove asked:
I 'the VE has just removed from a flight from Birmingham to Edinburgh. Since this flight is primarily terrestrial (if forget the estuary below), it seems stranger that at least half of security is about how to put the life jacket on. So while there are lots of statistics about how many arrests there plans are and how the air travel is safe, I would like to know how many lives have never been preserved by those yellow life jackets? I 'bet it' ll the s very few. I know that that plane could travel over water, but I mean for the overall global air travel. Also appreciate that fall from a plane from 13000ft that can not survive even in water (unless you're the Hoff). The assumption is that a plane can stop the earth in a body of water in a controlled manner that will provide passengers with enetr water and use the lifejackets to stay afloat until the rescuers do not arrive. I doubt that many people have ever survived a stop to a plan and thought, "few, if it hadn 't been for that life jacket would have been screwed! "
